According to the architect, a family is an autonomous unit, rather like an ant colony which is why the surroundings of this house have been almost completely ignored, concentrating entirely on the interior of this black cube. The residence, inhabited by a couple with three small children is undivided inside, as the architects claim that a continuous space without partitions is liberating.  The house is broken up, essentially without any doors, into a series of smaller spaces and passages, the borders of which are up to the inhabitants to define.

When open plan houses are built for families the question always arises of what will happen when the children get older. The architect’s reply is that then everyone can separate off a smaller space for themselves, although where these will be is not yet known.
